365 Days Later
We have traditionally "celebrated" the 4th of January anniversary of the beginning of our project in one way or another, often with a blog post relating to the passing year. Now that the date is also the anniversary of the game release, it's a nice excuse to keep the tradition going for one year more. As expected, releasing Katawa Shoujo didn't mean that it would let go of us, and much of the year has gone with wrapping our heads around the aftermath.
Living Up to the Hype
The waves of Katawa Shoujo's release splash have somehow lasted through the entire year. That there is an actual fandom spawned around KS is incredible, something not very many visual novels can claim, and we're happy and surprised to have so many people come to love it. Apart from the reactions of people, the emotional resonance and such, the things that have left an impression are the many new creative projects inspired by the Katawa Shoujo (as well as the direct fan creations), and the new fan communities spawned around the Internet. There has been lots of more personal communication as well. Many people wrote to us with stories of how KS struck a chord with them, but by far the biggest impact for me came from the comments of RAITA, the creator of the concept art that birthed the project. A few kind words about our perseverance and his satisfaction in the end result were enough to give me a feeling of validation beyond anything any other person could've given. It's funny, isn't it? With that, I felt the circle truly coming to a close.
Anniversary Presents
As an anniversary present of a sorts, we release the digital edition of the summer 2012 4LS artbook, Tomorrow/Today. The 32-page full colour artbook featuring Katawa Shoujo illustrations by 4LS staff and our friends was originally released in Los Angeles' Anime Expo in June, followed by the Japanese edition in Tokyo's Comic Market 83 in December. You can download the digital release from this link.
This Is Not a True Ending
What about 2013? Well, at the very least we hope to to go public with some new 4LS projects that have been in the concept/early development stage in 2012 (and before). There's been some pressure to do so, and I suppose at least for me personally, it's a solidifying thing too, plus I enjoy engaging with the public. Look forward to that. Depending on how things go this also could mean that we actually need to recruit some people in 4LS. And finally, don't be surprised if you see a new artbook coming from us this year too. That's the future foreseeable from here, but who knows what is going to happen this year. Let's hope it will be good and precious things only.

Merry Christmas from 4LS
Merry Christmas, everyone! Our traditional Secret Santa has been completed successfully, hopefully everyone has enjoyed the event as much as we have. Due to circumstances, we had one extra artwork done for the SS, which you can see above as a bonus. This lovely robotics themed illustration of the Katawa Shoujo cast is, of course, the work of the one and only kamifish.

Four Leaf Studios Secret Santa 2012
We 4LS are in some odd ways a tightly knit bunch, which I guess is not surprising considering how much time we've spent together over the years. Along the way all sorts of habits, traditions and inside jokes pile up, the culture of this small group of internet friends. One of the 4LS traditions is to hold a fan art -themed Secret Santa in the month of December, and this year we're doing it again. I was roped into organizing the thing and invited 4LS members, KS translation team members and some friends of ours to participate and share the season's spirit.
Everyone got to make one wish for a piece of Katawa Shoujo fan art, and the requests were randomly distributed amongst the participants. Every day from tomorrow till Christmas Eve, we'll reveal one of the finished art pieces on our Secret Santa 2012 minisite. If you are following our twitter account, it will autotweet the reveals daily.
I hope this will make the Christmas season just a little bit more magical for you too!

Katawa Shoujo at Comiket 83
The Katawa Shoujo Japanese translation team seems to have become a permanent fixture for the Comic Market at Tokyo Big Sight. For the Comiket 83 happening in next month, they'll be once again participating. This time their new sales item is the Japanese edition of Tomorrow/Today, which was originally released at Los Angeles' Anime Expo in June this year.
You'll find us on the third day (31st December) in East Hall 2, table T-08a right along one of the main hallways. If you're in Tokyo around New Years, come and say hello!

Katawa Shoujo at Anime Expo 2012
Four Leaf Studios and Katawa Shoujo will make a showing at the Anime Expo this year. It runs from the 29th of June to the 2nd of July, and will be held in Los Angeles, California, USA.
While we won't be holding a panel, there will be a couple of tables in the Artist Alley staffed by developers. You can meet weee, gebyy, Suriko andPimmy Losstarot, and pick up the new Katawa Shoujo artbook, Tomorrow/Today. It runs 32 pages, and is in full colour.
We will be at two tables, located at A52 and A53 (adjacent to one another).
- Suriko
Update: Please see this handy dandy chart for where we are located.

A Stalker's Guide to 4LS
So it turns out a whole lot of people out there think just because we made KS, we are interesting people. "Tell us more about yourselves" has been requested a whole bunch, and so has links to our blogs and whatnot. So, I thought I'd collate all the 4LS web presence to one place. There's actually not all that much of it, and it's not like we are hard to find (for instance, 4LS twitter follows all the devs' private twitters), but when people can't find one of us, they come to me or someone else asking. So here's everything I could remember off the top of my head, minus private stuff. I'll try to keep this post updated I suppose, so it's possible to refer to it in future as well, and I expect people to complain to me that something that shouldn't be here is or vice versa

Katawa Shoujo at Comitia 100
I totally missed this by a week, but thought I'd mention it anyway. Our ever active Japanese friends attended the Comitia100 doujin event last weekend. The venue was packed with 5000 doujin circles and a throng of visitors, many of who picked up the 冬至 - Midwinter artbook for themselves. Once again a successful event for us.
In other news, progress on the Japanese translation (and others, I trust) is steady, while the main dev team has been gathering their strength over the spring. Hope everyone will have a great summer!
